ChromeTrack ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, particularly students and educators in K-12 educational institutions. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.

Our Commitment: We do not sell personal information. We do not use student data for advertising. We comply with FERPA, COPPA, and applicable state student privacy laws.

Information We Collect

Device Information

Through our Chrome extension, we collect the following device-related information:

  • Device serial number and asset tag
  • Hardware model and specifications
  • Chrome OS version
  • Device enrollment status
  • Last login timestamp

User Information

We collect limited user information necessary for device assignment:

  • Google Workspace user email (for device assignment)
  • Organizational unit membership
  • Login timestamps

Account Information

For administrators and account holders:

  • Name and contact information
  • School district information
  • Billing information (processed securely by our payment provider)

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Browsing history or web activity
  • File contents or documents
  • Emails, messages, or communications
  • Location data beyond organizational unit
  • Biometric data

How We Use Information

We use collected information solely for the following purposes:

  • Providing device inventory and tracking services
  • Generating reports and analytics for administrators
  • Maintaining device assignment records
  • Syncing with Google Admin Console
  • Providing customer support
  • Improving our services

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With your school district: Administrators have access to data for their district only
  • Service providers: Limited sharing with vendors who help us operate our services (e.g., cloud hosting), under strict contractual obligations
  • Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect rights and safety

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing
  • Access controls and authentication requirements
  • Employee training on data protection

Student Privacy

We are committed to student data privacy and comply with:

  • FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)

  • Device history: Configurable retention periods (default 3 years)
  • Upon account termination: Data deleted within 90 days
  • Backup retention: 30 days after deletion
